Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award
This is it….the ultimate achievement in the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
If your students have started at the bronze level with us, by now they will be proficient kayakers. They will be able to set up their campsite quickly and effectively, their equipment will match their needs and their food choices will be appropriate. In short, they will be ready for the challenges that face them.
The commitment the students need to make for this level is significant. The Adventurous Journey, while not a huge commitment in time, is still a big challenge for them. Xterra Adventures’ commitment to the students is a little bit different to others. We thought it would be nice for the students to be rewarded for their achievements in other ways, and the best way we could think of was in offering stunning paddling locations. We came up with some overseas locations such as Fiji, New Zealand and Alaska. These locations all offer something different – like paddling over coral reefs in Fiji, through some icebergs in Alaska or past stunning scenery in New Zealand.
Closer to home are Ningaloo Reef (WA), the Murray River, Myall Lakes, Jervis Bay, Kangaroo Valley, Forster/Great Lakes and the Whitsunday Passage – all amazing places.
Our highly skilled and qualified staff will make sure that your time on the water is not only enjoyable, but safe as well. Our enviable safety record is not something that happens by chance. We go to great lengths to ensure that the conditions we are paddling in are not only safe, but suitable to the skills of the students. Leading into a paddle, we will be in constant contact with you with weather updates, alternatives and other options.
We have seen numerous groups of students progress from bronze through to gold. The relationships we have formed with the various groups have been enriching for us, and we hope, for the students as well. We take great pleasure in being a part of their journey to this prestigious award.
For the ultimate reward for your gold students, call us to arrange a meeting and we can discuss the best kayaking trip going around.
